Balsam Hill Master Class Presented by Nordstrom

Yesterday, I was fortunate to attend a virtual Balsam Hill Master Class Presented by Nordstrom. It was an informative discussion between Mac Harman, the Founder and CEO of Balsam Hill, Jen from Balsam Hill and Alli from Nordstrom’s decorating team. Balsam Hill is a I want to share with you a few things I learned during the class.

Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Tips

  • Balsam Hill will have Christmas trees in 21 Nordstrom stores this holiday season. You can shop in person and see the trees, place an order with a sales representative at the store, and the tree will ship to your home, which they estimate will take about two weeks. Find Balsam Hill at a store near you on the Nordstrom website.

  • LED Christmas lights on trees have come a long way. Balsam Hill has trees where you can program the lights from an app on your phone for a cool, changing light show. The lights also come with a remote. They have softer white LED lights that are pleasing to look at. And their lights are made of glass instead of plastic for wonderful radiance.

  • Balsam Hill uses frosting instead of flocking for a snow like look because over time flocking can peel off in chunks and leave unnatural looking dark green spots.

  • 7.5 foot trees are standard for homes with 8 - 9 foot ceilings. Artificial trees are bigger than natural trees at the same height because they are fuller on top.

  • Their artificial trees are generally sturdier than natural trees because they bases are designed for the specific weight of the tree.

Christmas Tree Decorating Tips

  • Make sure you take time to “fluff” the whole tree. Even if the back is against a wall, the pieces in the back help provide the “full” look for the front of the tree.

  • Use solid color ornaments deeper in the tree to add depth. Then individual or family oriented ornaments can hang toward the outside so you can enjoy them.

  • Changing garlands can shift the whole look of a tree even if you use all the other same decorations.

  • Use florist wire to hang heavy ornaments or to change the length of where an ornament hangs and wrap it around the tree branch.

Thanks to Nordstrom for hosting this great Master Class and to Balsam Hill for taking the time to explain more about their trees and company. You can also shop directly on the Balsam Hill website.
